My wonderful husband and I took a hike at the Santa Rosa Plateau and witnessed it's beauty! We hiked around 7 miles and I can tell you that we are not prepared. First off, we were wearing nice fresh street clothes (everyone else wearing jogging & hiking clothes). Second, we forgot water. How can we forget water on a hike? easy!! On our way back to the car we noticed a jogger holding 2 ice cold water bottles. I hinted to my husband that maybe we should take them and run and we concluded that it was probably a bad idea since the jogger can easily outrun us. Thirdly, and lastly we did not check the weather. It's January, nice chilled breezy weather.... well we thought. Wrong! Apparently it was the start of a heat wave. Who has heard of a heat wave in January? Not me. So in conclusion, make a checklist before going hiking and check it twice, Santa Claus had the right idea.
On the brighter & warmer side, I took some amazing wilderness shots on my new DSLR. and boy was it fun getting red fire winged ants all over myself being in the grasses. The result of the day hike is below.
